Safe Sidewalks LA Program
Endeavoring to make city sidewalks safer and more accessible to everyone, the City of Los Angeles has launched Safe Sidewalks LA, a 30-year, $1.4 billion program aimed at repairing sidewalks, improving accessibility, and progressing toward complete Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, with the goal of ensuring universal access to all Angelenos.
This is a massive undertaking. Los Angeles, the second largest city in the US, is comprised of nearly 11,000 miles of sidewalks, many of which are cracked, plagued by bulges and buckles, and in dire need of comprehensive repair.
Key repair priorities include
- Fixing sidewalks limiting mobility for disabled and mobility-challenged residents, via the Access Request program.
- Fulfilling both a backlog of hundreds of Access Requests made by mobility-challenged residents.
- Repairing City facilities, including fire stations, police stations, parks, libraries, and recreation centers.
Amheart Solutions has been contracted by the City’s Program Manager to provide Construction Management services and solutions. As a Southern California-based company, Amheart is extremely proud to be part of the team in charge of improving our local community, initiating strategies to ensure ADA compliance, and making our public pathways safer and more accessible to everyone.
